The Pizza Hut Foundation, in partnership with the iconic Book It!® reading program, has awarded a $10,000 Slice of Literacy Grant to Abilene Public Library, recognizing the organization’s outstanding commitment to promote literacy and empower people of all ages in the local community.
The grant supports the Pizza Hut Foundation’s goal to expand the Pizza Hut Book It!® reading program through additional literacy-focused initiatives. The Book It!® program, which has inspired generations of young readers for over 40 years, continues to fuel literacy efforts nationwide through customer donations and community partnerships.
“We’re honored to receive this generous grant from the Pizza Hut Foundation,” said Jamie Ely, Children’s Librarian of Abilene Public Library. “This support will allow us to impact even more members of our community and spark a lifelong love of reading. We’re grateful for the partnership and excited about what’s ahead.”
The funds will help Abilene Public Library expand its literacy programs and continue its mission to make learning accessible to everyone. The grant will be used for addition resources in the Children’s Library, going towards Bilingual Story Time, Yoto Players and Audio Books, After School Program Visits, and Lego Club supplies.
The Pizza Hut Foundation’s Slice of Literacy Grant Program supports nonprofits located within 15 miles of a Pizza Hut restaurant that are actively working to improve literacy outcomes in their communities.
